Zoom and Virtual Platforms are here to stay.
Does this give you a deep sense of dread?
Have you felt the dreaded Zoom fatigue?
Felt stuck in "the box" during another overly long call?
It was us, too.
Back in April, my friend and collaborative partner Christine Gautreaux and I were discussing our experiences on literally hundreds of hours of zoom calls. We are both presentors/trainers/facilitators and had seen and experienced many unnecessarily painful calls, and also handful of masterful ones.
We knew there were ways to make this better. This virtual experience is just a performance, right? Using technology is a skill set that can be learned!
So, we went about teaching ourselves both in research and in practice on how to bring our best selves to the virtual meeting space. We created three classes and taught them to professionals in many industries, and worked one on one with others. We are offering these classes in September, but wanted In the next few weeks, I will be sharing some behind the scenes tips and tricks with you.
There are a few mindset block that you have to address before engaging in making the virtual meeting space better for you. We've noticed these in our peers, friends, and students, and we know that without the shift, the growth can't happen.
First mindset block: I am bad at technology.
Shift: I can learn new things.
How do you get there? Let's do a thought experiment.
Think of a time you learned something new.
Did you teach yourself?
Did you follow a recipe or directions?
Did you like to have a friend guide you through it?
I know it seems simple, but this mindset block has stopped many smart person from showing up with confidence online, especially during the pandemic. We know it's stressful and overwhelming, but we promise, with a few skills learned, you will be showing up and with much less dread. You are good at learning, and this Zoom technology is no different than anything else you have learned in the past.
If you are a person that likes to learn with other people, we have an offering for you!
